Into the Unknown starts by talking to Vladimir aboard The Eye, a space station orbiting Jemison. He'll tell you that he has leads on two artifacts located on two separate planets that are randomly assigned for each player and playthrough.
In addition, you'll also need to find and check up on a person named Andreja.
At this point, you're free to travel to the planets in any order. Regardless of which planet you visit first, your objective remains the same of finding the artifacts.
Find Andreja inside the Mine. During the events of this quest, she will also act as your companion.
Andreja Romance Guide: All Likes and Dislikes
Once you land on one of the target planets, follow the waypoint and it will lead you to either an abandoned mine or a cave. Enter it and head deeper underground while eliminating any hostiles that you'll encounter along the way.
Set a course for the next planet and look for the artifact there. If the first one was inside an abandoned mine, then the next artifact will be inside a cave.
Head to the cave or mine and look for the mineral deposit and use your Cutter to pry the second artifact free from the rocks.
Return to The Lodge in New Atlantis and add the newly obtained artifacts to the collection at the library.
Matteo will immediately talk to you and Andreja afterwards, and he will express his jealousy since he was unable to find any leads to the other artifacts.
After the conversation Andreja will be added to your crew and be your active companion right away.
Matteo Khatri Character Profile
Talk to Vladimir aboard The Eye to learn more about your next destination, where he registered a bigger grav anomaly similar to the one generated by one of the artifacts you just found.
Set a course for Procyon III, where Vladimir claims the source of the Anomaly originates from.
Note: You might encounter a bug during this objective where a quest marker won't appear, preventing you from landing on the planet. Currently, there are no official fixes for this bug yet, but you can try reloading an earlier save, restarting the game, or visiting other locations while doing other quests before checking back on this quest objective. |
Using your Hand Scanner, look for Distortions, and follow it to locate the Artifact Temple. You'll notice breaks on your Scanner circle when it detects Distortions.
Once you successfully follow the source of the Distortions, you will find yourself at the Artifact Temple.
Inside the temple, follow the light that will continuously move around the room until the rings in the middle opens up a Portal. Fly through it to obtain the Anti-Gravity Field power.
After obtaining your Starborn Power, return to The Lodge in New Atlantis.
Anti-Gravity Fieldin Front of Vladimir
Inside the Lodge, talk to the Constellation members about your experience, and then use your Anti-Gravity Field to show off your new ability!
Anti-Gravity Field Power - How to Get and Effects
Speak with Vladimir again to discuss your new findings. You will receive 9500 Credits and 400 EXP as your rewards for completing the quest!
To look for distortions on Procyon III, bring out your Hand Scanner and aim at each of the objective icons until you notice that the edge of the Scanner circle is breaking or glitching out.
You will know that you are following the correct Anomaly once the glitches on the scanner circle becomes more consistent as you go near the landmark.
How to Find the Artifacts |
---|
|
Once you land on a planet, follow the waypoint and it will lead you to either an Abandoned Mine or a Cave. Enter it and head deeper underground while eliminating any hostiles that you'll encounter along the way.
The artifact will be embedded on a mineral deposit. Pull out your Cutter and start drilling the excess rocks in order to retrieve the artifact.
Cutter - How to Get and Stats Overview
With the first artifact secured, it's time to head back to your ship and visit the second planet assigned to you.
Head to the Cave or Mine — again, the location of the artifact will vary for each person. Look for the mineral deposit and use your Cutter to pry the second artifact free from the rocks.
Players have reported that once they reach the Go to Procyon III objective, no quest marker appears for them, which prevents them from setting a course or landing at Procyon III.
As of writing, there are no official fixes from Bethesda regarding this bug. You can either load an earlier save and see if the quest will progress as normal, or wait for an official Hotfix.
The Game8 Walkthrough team has not encountered this bug during their playthrough, but let us know in the comments below if you faced a similar issue!
There was a bug that you can encounter during Into the Unknown where the quest does not appear after completing the game. Fortunately, Starfield released Update Version 1.7.29 last September 13, 2023 that addressed this issue.
