Critical hits are shots or attacks more powerful than an average hit from your weapons in Starfield. Read on to learn how to inflict a critical hit, increase the critical hit rate, and which weapons to use!

How to Inflict a Critical Hit

Select a Skill that Boosts Critical Hit Chance

Skills that Give Critical Hit Chance
Pistol Certification Marksmanship
Sniper Certification Sharpshooting
Particle Beam Weapon Systems -

Weapons don't usually inflict a critical hit on your opponent, and you can bypass that by picking skills that give you a critical hit chance. However, not all weapons can do this, as some skills are limited to certain firearms. Some also require specific conditions, like inflicting a headshot, to get a critical hit.

You will know if you inflict a critical hit when a CRIT text pops up on the screen as you shoot or attack.

Pistols

Unlocking the critical hit chance for Pistols under Combat Skills will allow you to inflict critical hits with any Pistol in the game. Get them if you want a handy weapon that can inflict crit damage on your opponents for a faster kill.

Non-automatic rifles are also great for dealing critical damage to your enemies. They usually have higher base damage than automatic rifles and benefit from the Marksmanship Skill.

Snipers are hard-hitting weapons that can take out a weaker mob in the game with one shot. Adding a chance to critical hit with the Sniper Certification Skill will further boost the damage and help kill or take a huge chunk of a mid to large-size enemy HP.
