Reputation in Starfield affects your standing with the factions. Read on to learn more about the reputation system and if you can be a double agent.

Affected by Faction Questlines

As you progress through Starfield, you can choose to side with a specific faction and complete missions for their questline. According to the Dev Q&A, all factions can be completed independently. However, your actions may make other factions unhappy. Ultimately, you won't be able to completely control all the factions.

Some of the factions have associated traits that can give better rewards if you complete quests for them. However, opposing factions will increase their crime bounty on you.

The Crimson Fleet has a mission requiring you to work undercover to infiltrate the Fleet for the United Colonies SysDef (UC SysDef). You can keep siding with the Crimson Fleet or betray them for UC SysDef. Of course, choosing the Fleet will cause your reputation with the UC to plummet.
