You will be prompted to choose between attacking Shaw or persuading her during the The Empty Nest in Starfield. Learn about all the available choices, the consequences of each choice, and which choice is best!

All Shaw Dialogue Choices and Consequences

Team Up with Shaw or Eliminate the Shaw Gang

Choice Consequences
Pay Credits You will pay credits to not fight Shaw and her gang.
Successful Persuasion You will not fight Shaw and you can help her gang fend off the Ashta.
Attacking and Killing Shaw You will have to fight and kill Shaw and her gang, while fending off the Ashtas.

After obtaining the Artifact and exiting the Empty Nest, you will be confronted by Shaw and her gang as soon as you step outside. Here, she will explain that the artifact you just stole was the one keeping the Ashtas away from her hideout, and taking it will cause her some problems.

After the exchange, you will be given the options to either attack, persuade, or pay Shaw off. No matter what you choose, the Ashta creatures will attack the camp. However, it's merely an optional objective to eliminate all the Ashta. You can just slip away in all the chaos.

You Should Attempt the Persuasion

Starfield - Should You Kill Shaw Persuasion Attack

It's not worth spending 4,000 credits to avoid conflict with Shaw's gang, especially since they'll also be distracted fighting off the Ashtas. You should attempt the Persuasion for the chance of teaming up without paying any credits.

If you fail the Persuasion, you will have to kill Shaw. However, if you pass the Persuasion, you can help Shaw eliminate the Ashta. Afterwhich, she'll give you a weapon and some ammo.
