House Va'ruun Location and How to Join

Start the Shattered Space DLC

To join House Va'ruun, you will need to have the Shattered Space DLC and begin the mission What Remains. This DLC introduces a deeper story and background for the faction which was initially mysterious in the base game.

You will able to access House Va'ruun Faction missions on the planet Va'ruun'kai in the Kavnyk Star System, and you can enter and leave whenever you want without getting locked into the DLC, which won't prevent you from accessing all other content in the game.

Choose Serpent's Embrace for Extra Dialogue

Note that the Serpent's Embrace trait is not required for joining House Va'ruun.

You can choose Serpent's Embrace as a starting trait in character creation for roleplay reasons or to have extra dialogue choices with House Va'ruun at Va'ruun'kai in the Shattered Space DLC. Note that choosing this trait it will exclude you from choosing other religion traits.

Dazra Vacant House

The Vacant House in Dazra is an exclusive reward for completing the The Scaled Citadel quest, which is the final main quest of the Shattered Space DLC.

There are specific choices you'll have to make during the final quest in order to unlock the house, meaning there's a scenario where you're locked out from acquiring the Vacant House completely. Due to questline spoilers, they are discussed in the dropdown below.

Worshippers of the Great Serpent

The gossip among the guards is this: a colony ship sets off for a new world, making grav jumps along the way. After one of the grav jumps, one of the passengers claims he spent that time communing with a celestial entity known as the Great Serpent. What was a few seconds for everyone else was... much longer for him. And he brought back a mandate, which is basically, “get onboard, or be devoured when the Great Serpent encircles the universe.”
