Digipicks are valuable tools to pick locks. It is recommended to buy as many Digipicks as you can from vendors, so you won't run out when attempting to pick a lock. You can also obtain them from corpses in certain areas.
Do note that upgrading the Security skill will allow you to pick more difficult locks.
Don't forget to always loot enemy corpses for ammo. Ammo doesn't have any weight, so it's okay to hoard as much ammo as you can in your inventory, even the ones that you don't need at the moment.
