There won't be any level scaling in Starfield and star systems have their own recommended levels. Read on for more info on level scaling and whether you can travel to higher level star systems!

Starfield does not have level scaling and you can visit higher level star systems even during the early game. The only restriction when it comes to traveling to higher level systems at the start of the game is that the first ship acquired cannot grav jump instantaneously to distant planets due to its limiting jump range!

Individual star systems have their own designated level range. This means that you will easily be able to tell which systems are right for your level and which ones are too difficult.

Will There Be Level Restrictions?

No Level Restrictions

There are no level restrictions when traveling to further star systems. However, you will go through a lot of loading screens to jump from one system to another since your starting ship is still not capable enough to do long-distance grav jumps.

Additionally, you can encounter difficult enemy ships and enemies planet-side that will make it tough for you to even navigate the higher level systems!

Starfield - Fuel Consumption

The only restriction so far in terms of navigating to more difficult star systems is the jump range of your ship. You will need to upgrade your ship to have enough fuel. Your ship also needs a strong enough grav drive to make it to more distant star systems.
