Talk to Barrett After In Their Footsteps

Starfield - Talk to Barrett at the Lodge

To unlock the Worlds Apart quest, speak to Barrett when he asks to talk to you about the Unity after speaking to the Emissary in the quest In Their Footsteps. You should ask Barrett what he has on his mind to begin this quest.

Starfield - Speak to Barrett in New Game Plus

You can also begin this quest by talking to Barrett once you've recruited him as a companion in New Game Plus. He can be found at the Argos Mining Outpost on Vectera. During the conversation with him, select the [Starborn] dialogue option to initiate the quest.

1. Take Barrett to Temple Sigma

Starfield - Take Barrett to Temple Sigma

Accompany Barrett to Temple Sigma as he wants to claim his own Starborn power. The location of the temple will be random for each playthrough, so open your Starmap and head on over to the planet where your objective tracker is marked at.

2. Help Barrett Acquire His Power

Starfield - Fly Through the Sparkling Lights

Similar to what you've been doing in the past to obtain powers, fly through the sparkling lights inside the temple. Once the rotating device in the middle opens up a portal, go through it, and you'll obtain the Parallel Self Power.

3. Speak with the Barretts

Starfield - Speak to the Barretts

Barrett will use his new power to call upon his other self from another universe. Talk to the two Barretts to engage in some interesting dialogue.

4. Defend Against the Starborn

Starfield - Fight the Starborn

Defeat the Starborn that landed nearby. He won't be alone as he'll summon duplicates to fight alongside him.

5. Check on Barrett

Starfield - Check on Barrett

Once you've dealt with the Starborn, talk to Barrett again to complete the quest and be rewarded with 250 EXP and credits.
