Airborne damage is likely caused by contaminants from a planet's atmosphere, flora, and fauna. In addition, enemies may have items or throwables that can inflict airborne damage.
When afflicted, it can likely cause a decrease in HP or other debuffs.
Corrosive damage is likely caused by harmful substances from throwables or the local flora and fauna.
Once afflicted, corrosive damage may have a passive effect similar to poison.
Radiation damage in Starfield could possibly follow Fallout 4, where radiation affects your maximum health.
This environmental affliction is likely encountered via radioactive items or locations.
Armor and Gear provide resistance against environmental damage. Plan what equipment is best suited to your current location by viewing their stats in your inventory.
It is highly likely for you to craft research projects that offer temporary resistance against environmental damage. Just make sure that you have enough resources to craft what you need.
Environmental Conditioning |
Environmental Conditioning is a Tier 2 Physical Skill. Each rank grants you resistance against certain afflictions and damage types.
Areas within a planet or moon where you can incur environmental damage are marked on your HUD. This gives you the chance to equip the proper gear, craft items, or rank up the necessary skills to increase your resistance against them.
