Starfield - Aiming Guide

Starfield will not have something similar to VATS, and there is no aim assist available in the setttings. Read on for a guide on aiming in Starfield, how to aim better, and whether or not Starfield will have aim assist.

Is There Aim Assist in Starfield?

Aim Assist Not Available

As of writing, there is no aim assist feature available on the official release of Starfield on PC or console. However, it is possible that Bethesda will add the setting for it in future updates. If they do add it in, then this page will be updated accordingly.

No VATS-Style Aiming System

What's certain, though, is that Starfield will not have an auto-aim feature on the same level as VATS, which allows players of Fallout games to automatically target parts of an enemy's body. In Starfield, players should expect to aim at enemies using their own efforts.

How to Aim Better

Slow Down Time with Weapon Wheel

Time slows down when you open up your weapon wheel to swap guns. This does not count as aim-assist, since you can't aim while time is slowed down, but you can certainly get your bearings and plan what to do and who to shoot next when in a pinch.
