You Can Infiltrate Crimson Fleet for the United Colonies
In the Crimson Fleet's exclusive questline, you'll join a subdivision of the United Colonies faction known as UC SysDef which is dedicated to taking down piracy organizations, in particular the Crimson Fleet.
This questline sees the player working undercover for UC SysDef to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet, giving the player the choice to either stick with the plan or betray UC SysDef to become a full-fledged pirate with the Crimson Fleet.

Complete Supra Et Ultra Quest to Join UC Vanguard
You can unlock and join the United Colonies faction, starting as a Vanguard, by passing their examination in the Supra Et Ultra quest. You can unlock the quest by finishing the One Small Step quest and follow The Old Neighborhood quest.

2160: New Atlantis is founded and becomes the official capital city of the United Colonies in 2161.

The United Colonies are the first settlements established by humans in Alpha Centauri. Over time, they have become the largest faction across the entire Settle Systems, with the largest military force keeping peace and order.
Its citizens in the largest United Colonies settlement, New Atlantis, live a comfortable and easy life in what seems to be the ideal future society.
