Starfield - Weapon Tiers and Rarity Explained

Weapon tiers and rarities have different stats and effects on weapons in Starfield. Learn more about the different weapon tiers and rarities in this guide.

Weapon Tiers Explained

Improves Base Stats Per Tier Level

Weapon Tier Description
Base Has no prefix added in the weapon's title and has no added bonuses to its stats.
Calibrated Adds the prefix "Calibrated" in the weapon name with increased stats and value.
Refined Adds the prefix "Refined" in the weapon name with increased stats and value.
Advanced Adds the prefix "Advanced" in the weapon name with increased stats and value.

Weapon tiers serve as a weapon's "level" in the game, where the higher the level, the higher its stats are.

You can buy tiered weapons in shops that sell weapons or loot them off of enemies. The chances that higher-tiered weapons spawn depend on your character's level.

For example, you'll see more "Calibrated" weapons when you hit Level 10, and higher-tiered weapons will spawn as you level up.

Weapon Rarity Description
Common Weapon has no Weapon Modifiers.
Rare Weapon has one Weapon Modifier.
Epic Weapon has two Weapon Modifiers.
Legendary Weapon has three Weapon Modifiers.

Weapon rarities are based on how many Weapon Modifiers it has, with Legendary having the most weapon modifiers equipped.
