Upgrading your ship is an essential task if you want to explore space in Starfield. Learn how to upgrade your ship when you visit ship services technicians!

Visit Ship Technicians in Space Ports

Starfield - Ship Technician

Speak to a Ship Services Technician and select the "I'd like to view and modify my ships" dialogue option.

Select a Ship to Upgrade

A menu from which you can select which owned ship you want to upgrade will show up. Press the LB or RB buttons on your Xbox controller, and press the A button to select the ship you'll be upgrading.

In addition, you can buy ships from the technician by selecting the "Let me see what ships you have for sale." dialogue option.

How to Hijack Ships

Select a Part

Select one of your ship's parts to upgrade. A menu will show up on the right side of your screen that shows all available upgrades to your current ship part.

Confirm Upgrade

After selecting your desired upgrades, simply exit the Ship Upgrade menu with the B button on your Xbox controller and a pop-up to confirm modifications will show. Press the A button to accept the modifications done.
