You will be prompted to choose between killing or sparing Maya during Surgical Strike in Starfield. Learn about all the available choices, the consequences of each choice, and which choice is best!

Kill or Spare Maya Choices and Consequences

Should You Kill Maya?

Choice Consequences
"I’m not leaving until I get some information about the First."
(Spare Maya)		 Maya gives you the Encrypted Slate and asks you to decrypt it.
"You leave me no choice."
(Attack Maya)		 Maya drops the Encrypted Slate along with her loot and credits.

In the quest Surgical Strike, as soon as you enter the area where Maya is hiding she will start attacking you. Defeating her will knock her down, initiating the dialogue.

Continue talking to Maya until the choices on the table above show up, these are the triggers for the choice branch.

Should You Kill Maya?

Kill Maya to Get Her Grendel, Ammo, and Aid

Killing Maya is the best choice to make in this mission, as it rewards players with gear that they can use or sell. However, if you are roleplaying as a noble character and don't need her gear, then Sparing Maya is also a respectable choice.

Note that there are no immediate or long-term consequences for this choice that affect the Freestar Rangers faction questline.
