Major factions like the Crimson Fleet, Ryujin Industries, and Xenofresh Corporation provide quests with higher Credit rewards as they are factions that prioritize earning credits in the Starfield universe. You can even join multiple factions and complete their missions to gain as much credit as possible.
The easiest way to earn Credits while you progress the Starfield story is completing quests and missions. Credits are likely to be the standard reward for them and you can possibly earn more with harder missions.
Mission Boards are a quick and easy way to earn credits since there will be plenty of postings in different faction planets. All of these missions are relatively simple tasks that would only take a few minutes to complete compared to main story quests. You can find and access Mission Boards in the urban city areas of a faction planet, like New Atlantis.
Mission Board Quests and Rewards
Consider doing the Crimson Fleet questline as soon as you can since you will be rewarded with 250,000 Credits after completing it!
Commerce |
The Commerce skill is a great skill to have if you plan on scavenging and selling a lot of items. Not only does it reduce the prices of items from vendors, but you also gain substantially more credits when you sell your items to them. Both of these things will help you save credits, and earn more.
Credits earned through Contraband are incredibly high since they are illegal and rare goods that takes more effort to acquire and deliver. Keep in mind that you risk having a bounty placed on you if you get caught.
You can get contraband very early on in the game by going to the Almagest in the Wolf star system. The casino space station has random contraband hidden in the safe that you can easily pick up and sell for around 12,000 Credits. Although, you will first need to kill the spacers lurking around the area.
12,000 Credits is a lot of money for the Early Game since it can get you stronger weapons or spacesuits to breeze through early enemy encounters.
How to Find the Casino Jackpot Combination
After you pick up the contraband, be careful what planets you choose to jump to. Some faction planets will scan you for contraband and confiscate it the moment you jump to the star system. To avoid this, you can safely sell contraband at the Trade Authority on the Den in the Wolf star system, which is not far from Alpha Centauri.
Wolf Star System Location, Planets, and Stats
There are plenty of items, food, equipment, and Credits scattered around areas. Be diligent about searching, looting, lockpicking to farm Credits.
Scavenging |
The Scavenging Skill increases the items that you can find in cases, containers, and the like. If you want more and higher quality items to sell, unlock and rank this skill.
Credits can also be earned simply by selling items in your inventory that you no longer use. This can include food and drinks, spacesuits, helmets, weapons, Resources, research projects, and even spaceships.
Most enemies will drop items, gear, and Credits when killed. Make sure to pick all of them up after defeating enemies, especially after an ambush or in areas with several foes. You can also take enemies down easier by investing in Combat Skills.
Combat Tips and Mistakes to Avoid
A quick way you can get some Credits is by lockpicking the GalBank ATM booths found in New Atlantis and other urban city areas. Each booth has four ATM terminals, and each terminal will have around 800-1000 Credits, which totals up to 3200-4000 Credits per booth. You will need to have the Security Skill to lockpick the ATMs since they are all Advanced difficulty.
For stealth lovers, you can get Credits from NPCs and enemies by pickpocketing and stealing. However, this method may turn into a fight should you get caught.
Stealth | Theft |
You can make stealing and pickpocketing a lot easier by investing into the Stealth and Theft skills since it makes it harder for other NPCs to detect you, and your pickpocketing chances are increased.
How to Steal Without Getting Caught
Farm Credits from unsuspecting space travelers by docking and taking over their ships. You can simply steal their equipment or commandeer their ships entirely to sell them at Space Ports.
During the Into the Unknown main quest, you will meet Vladimir on the Eye near Jemison. He will teach you how to scan and obtain survey data, and you can sell this data to him. Even after you finish the quest, you can continue collecting survey data and sell it to him for an easy 4500 credits.
Though this takes a lot of time since you need to complete scanning a planet's resources, flora, and fauna to get a survey data. You can instantly get data from Gas Planet since you cannot land there.
Organic resources such as tissues and carapaces can be sold to Noel, who is located in The Lodge. Organic resources can be harvested from floras and faunas!
List of All Fauna and Alien Creatures
You can set up automations that collect a planet's resources within your outposts. You can collect these resources and sell them or use them for research projects and for crafting.
