Starfield offers a unique New Game Plus Mode that allows you to carry over character level, skills, and traits, while choosing to either replay the main story or skip straight to collecting artifacts. See all changes made in New Game+, as well as rewards for completing 10 times, and more!

In general, your whole character, including levels and exp gained, physical form, as well as any skills or powers picked up, will be carried over to New Game Plus. Interestingly enough progress made in the Research Lab carries over as well!
Unfortunately, this isn't a traditional New Game Plus, in the sense that you can't bring along any of your possessions, so any weapons, armor, credits, or other items in your inventory will be lost. Any relationships you have are also reset as everyone you meet is a different version of them in another universe.
The more times you complete Starfield's story and continue into New Game Plus on a single file, the better the rewards you will receive at the start of each New Game Plus, maxing out after 10 clears.
You start off your first playthrough of New Game Plus with a powerful new ship called the Starborn Guardian. Succeeding completions of New Game Plus will also improve the ship and show how many times you've reached the Unity in the ship name (ex. Starborn Guardian II). The final upgrade, the Starborn Guardian VI, is achieved after beating the game six times.

Starborn Spacesuit Tenebris | 181 | Beat New Game Plus 3 times and start next playthrough |
Starborn Spacesuit Solis | 192 | Beat New Game Plus 4 times and start next playthrough |
Starborn Spacesuit Gravitas (Emissary Armor) |

Starborn Spacesuit Bellum | 214 | Beat New Game Plus 6 times and start next playthrough |
Starborn Spacesuit Tempus | 224 | Beat New Game Plus 7 times and start next playthrough |
Starborn Spacesuit Avitus | 235 | Beat New Game Plus 8 times and start next playthrough |
Starborn Spacesuit Venator (Hunter Armor) |
246 | Beat New Game Plus 9 times and start next playthrough |
The first time you reach New Game Plus, you'll get a new spacesuit called the Starborn Spacesuit Astra, which has strong damage reduction against all damage types. It also has 3 random modifiers, being Legendary armor. This will be replaced with stronger versions such as Materia, Locus, and so on every time you return to the Unity, with the PHYS, ENGY, and EM defensive stats increasing with each variation.
There are 10 of these suits in total, so you'll need to clear the game 10 times to get the strongest armor, the Starborn Spacesuit Venator.
How to Get All Starborn Armors
Choosing to skip the main quests will lead you to a slightly different way of reaching the ending. Rather than going through the story again, you can simply collect all the artifacts in randomized locations given by Vladimir in the quest Among The Stars.
You'll also need to seek out companions on your own as they won't join you automatically anymore. They'll normally be where you'd expect them, such as Constellation members staying in the Lodge, although Barrett will be in Vectera and the others may need you to collect all the Artifacts first. Other universes may not have them available at all.
Best Companions and Crew Members
Since you're going straight for the Unity by skipping, you can significantly cut the time spent in that universe and finish it in a couple of hours. Getting reborn gives a stronger ship and a new type of Starborn Armor, so this can be a good way to get some of the best gear in the game quickly. This is also a way to get the upgraded Starborn Powers without dealing with the main story.
Regardless of which path you take, the final Revelation mission and ending will play out the same way. If revealing to Constellation you are a Starborn, the sequence where you choose to side with the Hunter or the Emissary (or neither) will be in Oborum III instead of Earth, but everything after that, including the final ending sequence, will play out just as it did in your first playthrough, so feel free to side with someone else this time!

|
As the Starborn, you'll start at Vectera once more and go straight to the Lodge. From here, you can rejoin Constellation, repeat the main quest, and continue the New Game Plus as normal, but with your old character's stats and abilities carried over, similar to a more traditional New Game Plus.
If you choose to reveal you're Starborn, you can skip straight to collecting Artifacts again to reach the Unity quickly. However, you won't be able to replay the rest of the main missions until you become reborn again.
If you go back to the Unity after another playthrough of New Game Plus, there's a chance you'll encounter something different when you visit the Lodge. One possible universe has you meeting your alternate self, who you can recruit as a companion to gather all the Artifacts. Most of these will continue as if you skipped the main story.
All Universe Variations Explained
Having experienced all the events of the main quest already, your character is aware of how they play out. During New Game Plus, you'll get Starborn dialogue options which can be helpful for speeding up progression.
Whichever option you choose, you can still visit temples to upgrade Starborn Powers in this new universe. When visiting a temple containing a power you already possess, you will instead be rewarded with a more powerful version of that power.
You can discover more temple locations at the Eye. There's also a limit to their power, as every Starborn Power can be upgraded up to level 10.
Any buffs you've gained from skill magazines carry over to New Game Plus. If you've already read a skill magazine from a previous universe, you'll gain a new skill from it too. Note that every magazine has a limited number of skills it can teach, so you may no longer get new bonuses after several clears.
As you travel across star systems in New Game Plus, you may be hailed by a Mysterious Captain who reveals themself as a Starborn known as The Trader. They sell various rare items, including powerful unique weapons like the Avatar, Reflection, Terror Inflictor, and The Last Breath.
The Starborn Trader has no exact location and can only be encountered randomly. They also won't remain on the planet where you first find them, so make sure you have enough credits!
New Game Plus acts like an extension of the main quest as your character is reborn in another universe. You'll only need to finish the mission One Giant Leap, walking into infinity when prompted, to continue your save as a New Game Plus.
Main Quests List and Walkthrough
Upon reaching the Unity, you are given the option to walk into infinity to end your adventure and begin a new one. However, even after arriving at the Unity, you can choose to continue your current adventure by turning around and walking until the screen goes black, if you feel that you aren't ready to move to New Game Plus yet after all.
