Can You Play On PS5?

Starfield is a Windows and Xbox exclusive and will not launch on PS5 on September 6, 2023. There are no plans to bring Starfield to PlayStation platforms, either.

Crossplay Support

Starfield will not support crossplay, since it is a single-player-only game and does not have online and multiplayer features.

Is There Multiplayer or Co-Op?

Starfield Supports Cross-Progression

Starfield supports Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows players to continue their save files on both Xbox and PC platforms, so long as the game was purchased from the Xbox or Microsoft Store.

Will Starfield Launch on Steam Deck?

No Steam Deck Announcement Yet

Todd Howard has not addressed concerns asking if Starfield will be playable on Steam Deck, although fans seem hopeful that the Steam Deck may be the only handheld capable of running the demanding Starfield.

Will Starfield Launch on Xbox One?

Not Coming to Xbox One

Starfield is not launching on the Xbox One, and it is very unlikely that it will happen, as Starfield is the most graphically-taxing game Bethesda have produced so far, and last-gen consoles simply will not be able to keep up.

The only way to play Starfield on the Xbox One is via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Playable via Cloud Gaming

Other platforms will be able to play Starfield using Microsoft's cloud gaming service called Xbox Cloud Gaming, or xCloud. You simply need to purchase an Ultimate-tier subscription to Xbox Game Pass for $16.99 every month, then launch xCloud on the following available platforms, which includes Xbox One.

Platform Compatible Devices
Xbox Consoles ・Xbox One
・Xbox Series X|S
Android ・Android OS 6.0 or later
iOS ・iPhone iOS 14.4 or later
・iPadOS 14.4 or later
・MacOS 14.1.2 and later
Windows ・Windows 10 version 20H2 or later
Smart TVs ・2021 and newer Samsung smart TV models with software version 1300 or higher.

Starfield Release on Other Platforms

PlayStation

Due to Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media, Bethesda's parent company, it is highly unlikely that Microsoft would release Starfield on Sony platforms in the near future, keeping the game as a Windows and Xbox exclusive.

Fans are hopeful, though, that Starfield may one day appear on PlayStation, even if they have to wait a long while.

Nintendo Switch

Starfield will not launch on the Nintendo Switch, and there are no plans for the game to be ported to the Switch. Furthermore, it seems like an impossibility that it ever will, given the harsh technical demands of Starfield compared to the Switch's dated hardware.

Mobile Devices (iPhone / Android)

Starfield will not launch on mobile platforms, but will be playable on iOS and Android via Xbox's cloud gaming service xCloud, which requires an Ultimate-tier subscription to Xbox Game Pass for $16.99 every month.

There are no plans for the game to be ported straight to mobile, as Bethesda has never ported their main series games to mobile platforms.
