Good for Early Game
Alien DNA gives a flat +50 bonus to health and Oxygen, so it does not scale well later in the game. Unlike max health, max Oxygen capacity does not increase with levels. There are only a few ways of increasing it like investing in the Fitness Skill and getting the Terra Firma Trait. This makes Alien DNA a good pick up for the early boost in max Oxygen capacity.
How to Deal with the Item Efficiency Reduction
With the Alien DNA trait, healing and food item effects are decreased by 20%, meaning this negative effect will scale until the late game. To manage this, invest in the Rejuvenation Skill and Regeneration Pack Mod to regenerate health naturally. You can also rank up your Medicine Skill to offset the healing reduction.

Talk to a Doctor at Reliant Medical
You can remove the Alien DNA Trait by talking to a doctor at Reliant Medical. You'll need 10,000 credits to have the Alien DNA trait removed.
You can find Reliant Medicals in New Atlantis, Neon City, and Cydonia.
