The Colander is a dead ship that orbits around Schrodinger III. The entire ship serves as an Easter Egg referring to A.E van Vogt's Black Destroyer where a captured alien escapes from its enclosure and proceeds to kill the rest of the crew silently.

What to Do in the Colander

Access Computer Logs and Reports

Starfield - Colander Autopsy Reports
The easter egg can be noticed by accessing the computer logs and autopsy reports scattered throughout the ship. By reading through the reports, players will find out that the alien escaped and disabled the life support system of the ship, then proceeded to kill the crew one by one.

Defeat the XL-069 Interloper

Starfield - Colander XL-069 Interloper
While navigating the ship for logs, players may wander around the laboratory section of the ship which houses the XL-069 Interloper, the alien responsible for the deaths of the Colander crew.

Note that this alien has a base level of 80, and scales depending on your level. It's one of the strongest enemies in the game. For comparison, even the Hunter and the Emissary don't scale to that high of a level.
