How to Remove Traits in Starfield

Starfield - Remove Trait Option

Talking to certain NPCs can result in a dialogue option to remove a trait permanently. For example, if you chose the Raised Universal Trait, a dialogue option with a [Remove Raised Universal Trait permanently] present will remove that trait when you speak to Keeper Aquilus. Check the list above to check which NPC to talk to for each trait!

While other traits only let you talk to someone to remove it, players would have a unique option to kill the Adoring Fan to remove the Hero Worshipped trait. Of course, you could still choose to remove the trait by choosing a specific dialogue option with the fan.

Sadly, removing a trait once will remove it for the rest of your playthrough. It is worth carefully thinking through before removing a trait, as the decision will be permanent and you will need to play a new save if you want to change the traits you chose.

What are Traits?

Optional Character Modifiers

Traits are optional modifiers in Starfield that you can add to your character to give them different advantages and disadvantages. These modifiers can change up your game experience in very interesting ways.

For example, the Wanted trait that can give you a damage buff when your health is low, but in turn throws more random enemy encounters at you. A trait called Kid Stuff has you occasionally give money to your parents, who you can visit and interact with.
