The possibility of changing your Background in Starfield mid-game is not confirmed but highly unlikely. Read on to learn more about Backgrounds as well as choosing and changing them in this guide.

Starfield - Backgrounds

Starfield does not allow you to change your character's background after character creation, as this choice determines your starting skills, and special dialogue options. With that, be mindful of what skills your background has, since having good skills early on will help you progress easier.

Appearance Can Be Changed

Enhance! (Neon)

However, players can change their appearance by going to the Enhance! shop and talking to the store clerk there. You can find Enhance! stores at various major cities, like in the Commercial District of New Atlantis.

Character Creation Options

Traits Can Be Removed

Starfield - Remove Traits

Additionally, you can also choose to remove certain character traits if you want to. Some personality-based traits, like Taskmaster, can be removed by talking to Keeper Aquilus at the Sanctum Universum of New Atlantis.

On the other hand, you can remove some biological-related traits, such as Alien DNA, by going to a doctor from Reliant Medical and telling them about your trait.
