Starfield - How To Go to the Ocean Biome

How To Get to the Ocean Biome

  1. Scan a Planet
  2. Land on a Coast
  3. Open Your Surface Map
  4. Proceed to the Marker

1. Scan a Planet

Starfield - Jemison Scanned

2. Land on a Coast

Starfield - Deciduous Forest (Coast)

The next step is to click around the edges of the Biomes near the Ocean until you locate a Coast. Then, simply go to the Coast by pressing the Land button.

3. Open Your Surface Map

After you have landed, access the Surface Map then zoom out of the map to better see its whole layout. The next step is to locate the area of the Surface Map that is constantly flat then place a marker to help you find the Ocean!

4. Proceed to the Marker

What is the Ocean Biome?

Cannot be Accessed Normally

Starfield - Cannot Land Here

The Ocean is one of a planet's possible Biomes, and you cannot land on it using your ship. You must land on the Coast of a nearby Biome to access it!

Starfield - Frozen Plains (Coast)

If a planet has an Ocean Biome, you also need to scan the Floras and Faunas on it to fully suvey a planet!

Be aware that the survey progress for the Ocean Biome will not show up on the map, unlike the other Biomes. All the other Biomes on a planet can show 100%, but you still cannot fully survey a planet unless you scan all the Floras and Faunas within the Ocean Biome.

As an example, the image above shows that the Frozen Plains has been fully scanned so its completion percentage is at 100%. However, if you have yet to land on a Coast to scan the Ocean Biome, your progress for it is still 0%!

Starfield - Fully Surveyed Biome
Landing on a Coast and turning on your Hand Scanner is the only way to know if you have fully scanned the Ocean Biome. As shown in the image above, the scanner will indicate if you have scanned all the plants and creatures within the Biome.

When surveying a planet, we recommend scanning the Ocean Biome last so you have an idea of how many remaining Floras and Faunas are still undiscovered!
