No Joystick or HOTAS Support
Starfield has unfortunately launched with no Joystick or HOTAS Support. Multiple sources, including our Walkthrough Team, have confirmed that joysticks and HOTAS controllers do not work in Starfield.
Possible 3rd Party Mod Support for Joystick or HOTAS
Bethesda games have always had a big modding scene from passionate fans. Although Starfield does not support Joystick and HOTAS controllers, the community will likely develop a 3rd party tool to support these controllers.
Possible Official Joystick or HOTAS Support in the Expansion
Bethesda has already announced the upcoming Shattered Space expansion to Starfield. Bethesda may be adding Joystick and HOTAS controller support after community feedback.

Truly stupid blurb. Bethesda has never made a space game before. None of their other games fit joystick/HOTAS setup. It has already been established that while take off and landing will be cutscreen, there will be extensive space exploration, combat and dogfighting.
