Starfield - How to Holster Your Weapon
Hold the X Button or the R key to put away your weapon in Starfield. Read on to learn how to holster your weapon and how to unequip or drop them.

Hold the X Button or the R Key

Starfield - Holster Your Weapon

While you have a weapon equipped, press and hold the X Button on your Xbox controller or the R key on your keyboard for PC players to put away or holster your weapon.

Visible Holstered Weapon Possible

Starfield will most likely have a visible holstered weapon system, similar to Fallout 3. Bethesda may have added this in as visible holsters were sorely missed by players of the Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 games.

How to Drop and Unequip Weapons

Press the X and A Buttons

Starfield - Drop Weapons

From your Inventory Menu, you can drop weapons by pressing the X button.

When fighting or exploring, hold the A button to unequip your current weapon and switch to those you find from crates or defeated enemies.
