1. Talk to Emma Wilcox

After completing the Job Gone Wrong quest, Marshal Daniel informs you that you have the potential to become a Freestar Agent and asks you to speak to Emma Wilcox inside The Rock as she handles the process for new recruits.

2. Complete a Freestar Ranger Mission

Emma explains that in order to join their ranks, you'll have to prove yourself by taking on one of their missions. Approach the mission board terminal to choose a Freestar Ranger Mission. Completing these missions will also reward you with Credits that you can spend in shops!

3. Talk to Emma Wilcox

Once you've completed a Freestar Ranger Mission, report back to Emma Wilcox at The Rock. She'll be impressed with your performance and asks you to follow her to see the Marshal.

4. Follow Emma Wilcox

Emma Wilcox will take you to see Marshal Daniel in his office upstairs. The upper levels of The Rock serves as the headquarters for the Freestar Rangers.

5. Talk to Marshal Blake

Talk to Marshal Daniel Blake to pledge your allegiance to the Freestar Rangers and receive your Freestar Deputy Badge. Congratulations, you're now a Freestar Ranger Deputy!

6. Travel to Waggoner Farm

For your first assignment as deputy, you'll be tasked to go the Waggoner Farm located on Montara Luna in the Cheyenne System to check up on the owner of the farm.

7. Talk to Mikaela Waggoner

Speak to Mikaela Waggoner and she'll explain how some men threatened her since she refused their offer of buying her farm. Ask her where the men went and she'll tell you that they went to some canyons behind her house.

8. Find the Ruffians by Examining Their Tracks

To find the Ruffians, follow the path behind the house and examine the tracks that were left behind by the men. You'll also be encountering several hostiles and mines along the trail so stay alert while you conduct your investigation.

Be sure to pack up enough Medpacks or Food to recover some health should you find yourself on the brink of death.

9. Confront the Ruffians

Once you reach the Ruffians' camp at the end of the trail, speak to the Ruffian Leader. Eventually this will lead to a heated discussion which will result to an intense gunfight at the camp.

10. Kill the Ruffians

Eliminate all the Ruffians present in the camp. Since you'll be facing quite a handful of them, use the best weapons that you have in your arsenal to take them out with ease. If ever you get surrounded, throw a grenade to take them all out at once!

In addition, you can also use your Jetpack to boost yourself towards enemies that are hiding behind the rocks around the camp to surpise them. This will also open you up for an opportunity to perform melee attacks.

Combat Tips and Mistakes to Avoid

11. Search for Clues in the Camp

The clue that you'll need to find is the Job's Done slate obtained from the Ruffian Leader after killing him. Be sure to also loot some ammo and a few frag grenades from him!

12. Read the Job's Done Slate

Open up your inventory and read the Job's Done slate under the notes sub-menu. The slate contains instructions on a stolen ship delivery between the First and an unknown contact.

13. Talk to Emma Wilcox

Speak to Emma Wilcox and show her the slate containing information on the hijacked ship from HopeTech factory. At this point, you'll be heading back to the farm so make sure to loot everything you need before leaving.

14. Talk to Mikaela Waggoner

Fast travel back to the farm and speak to Mikaela Waggoner to inform her that the men threatening her earlier have been dealt with.
