In space, the greatest commodity is oxygen, and the increased lung capacity gained by a regular physical fitness regimen is essential to survival. |
As Fitness is a Novice skill, it can be learned without having to spend skill points on other skills in the Physical skill tree. You just need to spend a skill point on Fitness to learn it.
The Fitness skill is automatically learned by the following backgrounds:
Beast Hunter | Bouncer | Soldier |
Xenobiologist |
Rank | Challenge | Effects |
---|---|---|
1 | - | You have 10% more oxygen available. |
2 | Use up all available Oxygen 20 times. | You have 20% more oxygen available. |
3 | Use up all available Oxygen 50 times | You have 30% more oxygen available. |
4 | Use up all available Oxygen 100 times | Sprinting and power attacks now use significantly less oxygen. |
The actual trigger to progress this challenge is not to use all your Oxygen but to fill up the red CO2 meter halfway through.
You use up Oxygen by performing moves like jumping or sprinting. You start filling up the CO2 meter once you run out of Oxygen. Be careful to fill the CO2 meter up to max, or you will start taking damage.
To further progress the challenge, wait for the CO2 meter to empty. Then, start sprinting until it fills up halfway through again.
Carry more items past your Carry Capacity to drain Oxygen faster as you sprint or jump. The higher you go past your carrying capacity, the quicker you exhaust yourself.
As waiting for the CO2 bar to empty takes a while, you can do this challenge near a chair so you can sit down and wait for an hour to recover your Oxygen and CO2 meters completely.
