You cannot respec your skills in Starfield. Read on to learn how to save up and reset skill points using console commands!

Can You Respec?

Cannot Refund Skill points

Starfield - Skill Tree

Unfortunately, players cannot respec their skills in Starfield. With that in mind, it is important to plan ahead for what kind of skills you want. It is speculated that a way to respec skills might become available in future DLCs, or by a mod!

No Max Level

Fortunately, there is no max level in Starfield and you can unlock all skills from the five skill trees available.

Save Up Skill Points

Starfield - Skill Points

Since you cannot respec your skill points, you can counteract this by saving it up instead. Simply do not spend your skill points if you are unsure about what skill to get. They will always remain available in your skill menu and will not go away until you choose to spend them.

Add and Remove Skills Using Console Commands

Console Command Explanation
player.addperk (Perk ID) Adds a specified Skill.
player.removeperk (Perk ID) Removes a specified Skill.

You can use the console commands above to respec your skills. Replace the Perk ID with the skill you want to add or remove a skill point from.

Do note that once you use console commands, you cannot earn achievements anymore!
