As Crippling is a higher-tier Master skill, it is unlocked by spending a total of 12 skill points in the Combat skill tree before it can be learned.
There are no backgrounds that start with the Crippling skill.

| 3 | Put 50 enemies into the bleedout state. | Human enemies now can enter a downed state earlier |
| 4 | Put 100 enemies into the bleedout state. | Previous ranks now apply to all enemy types. You now do 100% more damage to downed enemies |
