I am having the same issue.
for some reason the "wait for Ekris" step doesn't work for me, he just stands there doing nothing... i've tried pushing him but he's solid, maybe i'll sneak stun him to reset him beofre speaking? super annoying.
i found that first, the vortex spawn's asset never loaded in so i went searching high and low for it's examine spot not knowing what else i was looking for lol.
In the examine the camp section, there is an examine the footprints that's just beside the vortex spawn.
