Access a Computer Terminal Nearby

Starfield - Hack Turrets

Players can sometimes find a computer terminal nearby where they can reprogram the turrets and other security robots. Access this terminal and disable the turrets or update its friend/foe setting so that it will not be hostile anymore. Do note that not all areas with turrets have a computer nearby, so you will have to use other methods to beat them.

How to Access Computers

Utilize Corner Peeking

Starfield - Corner Peeking Turret

You can also utilize the corner peeking strategy to slowly whittle away the health of the turrets. This can be done by hugging the wall next to the room where the turrets are. Then, quickly move to the side and shoot at the turret once or twice before moving back to cover. This lets you deal some damage before the turrets can aim at you and shoot you.

Combat Tips and Mistakes to Avoid

Outrunning the Turrets

Starfield - Amp Aid Item

The turrets can also be defeated by outrunning them. To do this, you have to consume an Amp, an aid item, to boost your movement speed fast enough so that the turrets cannot aim at you. Afterwards, sprint as fast as you can until you can find a safe place to hide from the turrets.

Team Up with Livey

During the Mantis quest, you will meet a man named Livey in the Lair of the Mantis. He will warn you about the trap up ahead, and you can team up with him so that he disables the turrets in the room.

Spell Out TYRANNIS

Starfield - Mantis Floor Puzzle

If you killed Livey, or prefer not to team up with him, you can also solve the puzzle in the room to disable the turrets. This can be done by spelling out the word ''TYRANNIS'' one letter at a time as you walk along the lettered tiles.

Use the Methods Mentioned Earlier

Lastly, you can use the previous methods that was mentioned earlier in the article. The two methods that would work well in this puzzle would be to outrun the turrets or by corner peeking them.

Outrunning Turrets

You can choose to ignore the puzzle altogether and outrun the turrets by consuming an Amp. Once you use one, sprint to the end of the room and press the button by the door. Doing so will disable the turrets and open the door for you.

Corner Peeking

If you accidentally made the turrets hostile before you reached the end of the room, you can also destroy them by using the corner peeking tactic. Just hide next to the wall near the room and place your crosshair to where the turret would be. Then, move to the side and shoot at it briefly before going back to cover.
