Newly discovered minerals mined from alien planets and moons have directly led to some incredible technological advancements. |
As Geology is a Novice skill, it can be learned without having to spend skill points on other skills in the Science skill tree. You just need to spend a skill point on Geology to learn it.
The Geology skill is automatically learned by the following backgrounds:
Homesteader | Professor | Sculptor |
Rank | Challenge | Effects |
---|---|---|
1 | - | Get more common and uncommon inorganic resources from surface objects. |
2 | Harvest inorganic resources from 20 sources. | Get more rare inorganic resources from surface objects. |
3 | Harvest inorganic resources from 50 sources. | Get more exotic inorganic resources from surface objects. |
4 | Harvest inorganic resources from 100 sources. | Occasionally harvest additional rarer resources from surface objects. |
Surface objects mentioned in the skill are the surfaces where you can mine or extract minerals and resources. They can be found on planets made up of mineable resources, such as Iron, and they are most abundant inside caves.
While you can also harvest resources from plants, they are not categorized as a surface object. Players would need the Botany Skill instead to gain more resources from them.

This wasnt really a walk through you just said the same vague description they did in more words. How about an example. Like after i get this skill when i mine an iron deposit will i get more iron than i would have before i had the skill? Like without the skill id get one but with the skill id get 2? Is that what it means? This is very unhelpful....
