| Beetles that can be found in star-shaped clusters. Once established in a location, they remain stationary there for ages. Their shells are covered in a type of dust that reacts to external stimuli, yielding a change in the creature's color. Upon impact, such as from a monster, the dust detonates. While this detonation will cause harm to creatures exposed to it, the beetles themselves are protected by their hard shells, and will simply flee. | |||
How to Use Starburst Bug
Launch Monsters to Deal Additional Damage
In most locales, you'll find two groups of Starburst Bugs in an area. You can use these bugs to deal extra damage whenever you launch a monster at them.
Can Inflict Blights When Colored
Starburst Bugs react to external stimuli such as their environment or elemental weapons, causing their shells to change in color and take on those elemental properties.
Whenever you launch monsters at colored Starburst Bugs, you'll also inflict an elemental blight on them. Work with other hunters to make the most of these critters!

You'll sometimes find Starburst Bugs that are already colored thanks to reacting to their environment, so you won't always have to bring an elemental weapon. Note that the color also determines the blight their explosive dust can inflict.
