Official Description
Winged insects that emit a bright light when struck. To survive, Flashflies live together in a swarm and have a defense mechanism that allows them to emit a blinding flash if threatened, giving them time to flee to safety. The flash is so bright that it's possible to cause a large monster to flinch. Once the threat has disappeared the swarm will gather together again.

How to Use Flashfly

Blind Large Monsters

MH Rise - Flashfly Blind

Using a Flashfly allows you to blind a monster, putting them in either a stunned state or heightening up their aggressiveness. Once blinded, a monster will have a hard time pursuing the Hunter which will give you ample time to escape. Some monsters, however, gain a boost in anger and start rampaging harder than before.

It has the same effect as the Flash Bomb.
