Official Description | |||
A beetle native to the Kamura area. This name refers to male Wirebugs, so called for their larger, more powerful bodies. As they are stronger than female Wirebugs, they are often used for long-distance movement, though they are less nimble and harder to control. They are also far less common than females. Once placed in a patch of Jewel Lilies, it'll never leave. |
Using Great Wirebugs allows you to reach very high places, places that would normally consume too much time on your part.
You can plant Great Wirebugs on Jewel Lilllies. There are only set locations where you can find Jewel Lillies specifically the white arrow-like symbols you can find on the map. The Direction these arrow symbols are facing is the direction you will go once you ride the Great Wirebug.
Wirebugs and Great Wirebugs are two separate endemic life. That is why when you use a Great Wirebug, it does not consume a Wirebug gauge.
When placed on Jewel Lillies, Great Wirebugs will stay there permanently even when you leave the Locale. So, next time you come back to that spot, you can still ride the Great Wirebug you previously installed. The only downside is, once you have placed a Great Wirebug, you can never get it back.
However, it should be noted that you will be given enough Great Wirebugs to put in every single patch of Jewel Lilies; you will just have to complete requests.
You only have a limited amount of Great Wirebugs on your arsenal that you can plant on Jewel Lillies. Remember to check your inventory so you know how many Great Wirebugs you still have left.
The hunter near the bridge leading to the Buddy Plaza will occasionally give you supplies of Great Wirebugs to place on Jewel Lillies. Make sure to talk to him whenever he has something to say (indicated by an orange speech bubble) to obtain some Great Wirebugs! Sometimes he will give you a Request to complete instead of just straight up Great Wirebugs.

Located on the West of the Shrine Ruins are waterfalls that are difficult to climb, specifically found within Areas 2 and 13. There have been missions where Large Monsters have passed through here to escape. Due to the height of the waterfall, it would be difficult to climb and reach the Monster you are chasing. This is why you put Great Wirebugs in these areas to climb easily.
Placing a Great Wirebug in Area 9 will help you bypass the large mountain, helping you get Area 12 without having to waste time climbing.

Placing Great Wirebugs in the center of the Frost Islands like so will help you in traveling through the locale faster! It also helps when you need to farm for materials as it ensures all corners of the map are within reach.

At the left side of the Base Camp is a hole, a shortcut you can slide to that leads you to a cliff with Jewel Lillies. You can travel up to Area 11 by riding three Great Wirebugs. The 2nd Great Wirebug can be found in mid-air, so timing is crucial if you wanna travel that far.

Placing Great Wirebugs in Underground Areas 11 is ideal since it helps you get to Areas 7 and 10 easier. Placing Great Wirebugs in Area 12 is ideal since some Large Monsters appear here as well, making it easier to give chase.

Flooded Forest |

At the right side of the Main Camp is a cluster of Jewel Lillies on top of a cliff. You need Wirebugs to access this area but once you do, it acts as a handy shortcut getting you to Area 10 and other higher areas!
At the bottom of the Pyramid in Area 2 is a spot of Jewell Lillies where you can place a Great Wirebug. Riding this Great Wirebug brings you to the middle of the pyramid, a place to mine ore and gather materials.

In the middle of the Lava Caverns Locale is a large river of flowing lava that divides the surface area into 2 parts. Placing Great Wirebugs on either side makes traveling a lot faster since you can go back and forth easily. Placing Great Wirebugs on either 7 or 9 is ideal but better if you choose only one as they do the same thing.
