Note that this summary uses Chain Charm III.

This a general Lagi-Guts build for the Hammer that maximizes both Agitator and Burst. Chain Charm III was added to ensure maximizing raw damage. For comfort, Earplugs 2 and Speed Eating 3 are included, but they can be swapped out for other skills.

You can modify this build for higher affinity and sharpness by using a rarity 8 Appraisal Charm with Agitator 1 and Critical Eye 3 with at least 1 weapon deco slot. Then, you can swap a Chain Jewel 3 for Tenderizer Jewel 3 to get AGI5-WEX3, and Rzr Sharp/Handicraft Jwl 3 for Mastery Jewel 3 instead.

Though this Burst build has slightly lower affinity and attack compared to the AGI-WEX Guts Counter Hammer, it can still be decent with the strong charm. Take note that the inherent Maximum Might will just be difficult to maintain on hammer charges.

For this build, we recommend the Artian Moteurvankel with Blast status (or Paralysis). Using the Appraised Talisman, you will be able to make room for Razor Sharp and Handicraft, ensuring better White Sharpness management.

For the Artian weapon, you can swap Rzr Sharp/Handicraft for Grinder/Attack to max out Attack Boost at Lv. 5 if you observe you already have ample sharpness or another way of maintaining it, such as through another player's Hunting Horn Restore Sharpness melody.

If using a Non-Artian Alternative, we recommend the Blazing Uria for its high raw damage potential, White Sharpness, and Whiteflame Torrent skill.

This build focuses on maximizing both Agitator, Weakness Exploit, and Counterstrike while giving room for Guts (Tenacity). With the Appraised Talisman, potential sustained DPS is raised further with Attack Boost and strong Sharpness management with Razor Sharp and Handicraft.

If you do not have the Appraised Charm yet, we recommend you go for Exploiter Charm II, then swap the 2 Tenderizer Jewels [3] for 1 Chain Jewel [3] and 1 Challenger Jewel [3]. This will keep both AGI and WEX at Lv. 5 while giving you Burst Lv. 1.

This build still makes use of the Artian Hammer weapon Moteurvankel with a Blast status effect for damage. But Paralysis is also a great choice for immobilizing monsters for damage windows.

For a non-Artian alternative, we recommend using the Blazing Uria from the Zoh Shia tree, then maxing its critical damage potential in a similar way to the Artian weapon. It has Dragon damage and deals Whiteflame Torrent as an added bonus.

For Artian weapons, this build's high affinity ceiling allows you to comfortably raise the base of your raw damage through Attack Bonuses. This makes the increased damage consistent for all forms of combos over more situational boosts from Counterstrike (via Offset Attack) or Adrenaline Rush.

Counterstrike can still fit in, though. If you wish, simply take out Exploiter Charm II for Counter Charm III. This gives you a higher damage ceiling but at the sacrifice of only having Weakness Exploit 2.

Recommended Mantle

Mantle Effect
Corrupted MantleCorrupted Mantle Decreases health, but raises affinity and weapon stats. Attack and affinity further increased in certain conditions.
Evasion MantleEvasion Mantle Evading just before an attack triggers a special evasive maneuver that lets you escape unharmed. Upon success, grants a temporary attack boost and alternative combos.

For maximizng damage, the Corrupted Mantle is the top choice for this build. This will significantly increase your affinity (10% more) and will also increase your raw attack by 4.5%.

For a more evasive choice, Evasion Mantle is a good pick here since it adds Evasion Window – making it great for uses with moves like Charging Step.

Build Playstyle and Combos

The playstyle for this build follows after the 100% Critical Blast Hammer: always be in the Monster's face, actively look for a chance to use your Offset Attack (upswing), or dodge in and out with Charging Step. This build also benefits a hit-and-run style if you habitiually use Charging Step.

This build has been used for hunting Zoh Shia, following these tips:

  1. If it's not special monsters like Zoh Shia, use Sneak Attack as a starter.
  2. Use the Corrupted Mantle whenever there is an open window for damage, or the Evasion Mantle if you will be dodging through attack chains.
  3. Make a habit of preparing a charge attack, but do not hesitate to disengage when needed. Charging Step is one of the best charge-based evasion moves you can use with the Hammer. You can cancel out of a charging state much safer by rolling and then letting go fo the charge button over releasing the attack early.
  4. You can stick to the Monster's head and do Side Smash Combos to fish for Offsets.
  5. For downed monsters, go with a Big Bang Combo or a simple Mighty Charge on weak parts. You can also take advantage of wounds with Focus Strikes.
  6. Take advantage of Focus Mode to watch the monster's movements, especially when you are preparing a charge so that you can decide whether to reposition with Charging Step, then go all in with a charge attack.

On top of these tips, keeping an eye out on your stamina bar is also necessary to maintain Maximum Might uptime. Second Wind I fortunately provides a generous amount of stamina for the Hammer for a bunch of movement other than charges, and Maximum Might has a grace period for staying active provided your actual stamina bar returns to full within 2 seconds of stamina loss.

This build makes use of the Artian Moteurvankel (can be Blast or Paralysis) with a balanced mix of Attack and Affinity rolls with at least 1 fit for a Sharpness Boost. Fit it with enough Critical Jewels to max out Critical Boost, then add in Focus/Handicraft Jewel 3 for some comfort.

For the non-Artian alternative, the Blazing Uria is a good choice for its raw damage potential paired with Whiteflame Torrent*. But you may also go for the Binder Mace as another alternative.

This build is a somewhat offensive build that leans more towards comfort with Earplugs, Constitution, Super Recovery I, and Second Wind I. The core damage skills, Agitator 5 and Weakness Exploit, are still preserved.

With the Hammer getting a buff to offset attacks in Title Update 2, we maximized Counterstrike to get the most raw value out of the Hammer.

This build maximizes its critical damage chance through Weakness Exploit 5 and Maximum Might 3 in combination with Second Wind I. Latent Power 2 is a bonus addition to the exisiting affinity pool, providing 30% stamina use reduction and allowing you to hit the 100% affinity cap provided all conditions are met.

This build uses a combination of pieces, namely Numinous, Arkveld, and Dahaad, for maximizing Agitator and WEX. After its core damage skills, we went with maximizing comfort with Constitution, Evade Extender, and Evade Window. This makes it excellent for a Charged Step-spam playstyle that emboldens hunters to use evasion and hit-and-run tactics.

There are ways also to customize this build depending on your needs. You can take out 1x Shockproof Jewel and 2x Physique Jewels for 3x Protection Jewel giving Divine Blessing 3. Having at least Constitution 3 is recommended for Charged Step stamina management.

To get your Affinity to a level where you will always hit criticals, focus on getting three Affinity Fusion to reach the 20% affinity needed to reach 100% Affinity with Moteurvankel.

In conjunction with a fully maxed out Critical Boost, your critical hits will level the Monster. If you would prefer to have better KOs, you can go ahead and slot a Charge Up Jewel!

Try to get as much Attack and at least one Sharpness when Reinforcing your weapon as a supplementary for additional consistency! As for the Hybrid Decos, Slugger is not necessary for the build, so it would be okay to just slot in a Critical Status to further utilize this build's affinity by making Blast even more reliable to proc.

If you are still farming for an Artian weapon, you can use the Graviton Hammer as an alternative. Like its previous iteration, this Hammer has the highest Raw and Blast damage but at the cost of having negative Affinity.

However, with the way the build is, you can hit criticals 60% of the time. For its decorations, follow the same philosophy as the Artian decorations with Critical Boost 5. The last slot should be a flex spot between Expert or Critical Status Jewel!

This endgame High Rank build is an upgrade to the previous build and fully leans on attaining the highest Affinity possible to maximize Critical Boost's buff to damage output. Additionally, this build uses Blast to get that extra -oomph!

This endgame upgrade to the build implements the Frenzy synergy given by Black Eclipse, Coalescence, and Antivirus.

Antivirus allows you to get an additional 10% Affinity on top of the 15% you get from curing Frenzy. Coalescence then increases the build's Burst build-up.

Since Maximum Might requires you constantly have a full stamina bar to activate, the Fulgur Anjanath set bonus, Second Wind, gives you an extra stamina bar that does not count towards your original Stamina, meaning Maximum Might will always give you a 30% bonus to your Affinity!

Due to this combination of synergies, it is possible to reach 100% affinity when the Monster gets enraged (15%) and you are consistently hitting weak spots of the Monster (10%)!

The build also includes Constitution for added comfort by lessening the stamina use of Charging Sway and dodges to lower the chances of expending Second Wind.

To top it off, there are three skills that further amp up this build's damage:

  • Counterstrike- provide an additional +10 to attack whenever you are hit with a during your Offset's hyperarmor!
  • Burst - adds an extra layer of damage since you will surprisingly hit multiple times with this new iteration of Hammer!
  • Adrenaline Rush - another means of adding damage as you will find yourself dodging Monster attacks at opportune times to punish accordingly.

Recommended Mantle

Mantle Effect
Corrupted MantleCorrupted Mantle Decreases health, but raises affinity and weapon stats. Attack and affinity further increased in certain conditions.
Evasion MantleEvasion Mantle Evading just before an attack triggers a special evasive maneuver that lets you escape unharmed. Upon success, grants a temporary attack boost and alternative combos.

If you were to prefer the maximum amount of damage possible, donning the Corrupted Mantle is the best option. Not only will you have increased Attack, your Charged Slams will have an additional aftershock upon hitting them like Rise's Impact Burst! These additional hits also allow you to quickly stack up the Burst status effect!

Apart from using Charging Sway, the additional Evade Window this build has opens up avenues for punishing Monster attacks when you pair it with the Evasion Mantle. Not only will you have safe repositioning, but you can also convert perfect dodges to damage opportunities!

Build Playstyle and Combos

◈ This recording was done on a 5-strength Tempered Arkveld.

The recommended playstyle for playing and maximizing the 100% Critical Hammer Build is to always be in the Monster's face while actively looking for Upswing offset attacks. For a more detailed guide, refer to our Hammer Guide and follow these tips:

  1. Start the hunt by equipping the Corrupted Mantle and doing a Sneak Attack to quickly remove the debuff. This action is also essentially free damage, which can save you a couple of seconds into the hunt.
  2. After doing so, do the Side Smash Combo, hold the Upaswing, and let go just before the Monster roars. Doing so allows you to get a free Mighty Charge Upswing or Slam, depending on the Monster!
  3. During the hunt, try to stick to the Monster's head and do Side Smash Combos to quickly access your Offsets while weaving in Charged Upswing combos for pokes. In the case of a Blast proc, aim to punish staggers with a Charged Upswing.
  4. If the Monster topples over or gets stunned, punish with a Big Bang Combo on weak parts aside from the head to open up other wounds and possibly break them.
  5. Rinse and repeat!

This build, while simple enough, relies on an aggressive playstyle that focuses on memorizing Monster patterns so that you can stick to their vulnerable hit zones and hit Offsets to activate your Counterstrike.

The aggressive nature of this build allows you to reliably set up openings as you can easily stagger Monsters with Critical-boosted hits alongside Blast procs, knocking them out occasionally in the process to maximize Burst!

However, you must manage your Stamina by avoiding unnecessary Charged Dash and dodges to keep your Maximum Might active at all times.

To make the most out of the Artian Hammer, focus on getting one Attack Infusion and two Affinity Fusion to reach above 50% for affinity, allowing for consistent use of Critical Status. With that and both Focus and Charge Master, you will reliably stack up Blast on Monsters, giving you that bang for your buck. Try to get as much Affinity and Sharpness when Reinforcing your weapon for additional consistency as a supplementary!

If you do not have a decent Artian weapon, you can use Shell Hammer I as an alternative. This hammer will have exceptional Raw and Blast damage but at the cost of having an abysmal Affinity. With the way this build is set up, its affinity will be at 25%. For its decorations, simply slot in Focus 2 and an additional Blast Jewel 1 to maximize Blast damage output and comfort!

I haven't unlocked Zoh Shia high rank, yet. Still doing story mode but how did you get Antivirus Level 3 for the Zoh Shia Critical Hammer Armor set? If I'm not mistaken the Gore Magala greaves gives only one Antivirus level, add one Sane jewel and you'll only end up with Antivirus Level 2.
