Convert Element provides additional dragon damage and increases the base dragon attack of a dragon weapon. Use in combination with Elemental Absorption to maximize its effects!
Convert Element Activation Mechanics

These damage values were retrieved by using the training area, meaning that damage values will vary from monster to monster.
Regardless of the elemental damage value that the player receives, Convert Element activates instantly. However, the player needs to wield an elemental weapon in order to activate the additional dragon damage.
Note that activation of Convert Element does not change the element of the weapon used. The additional dragon damage activates on top of your weapon's base elemental type, similar to Scorch.
Elements that activate the additional dragon damage only include: Water, Ice, Dragon, Fire, and Thunder. Additionally, Convert Element stays active for two (2) minutes and has a cooldown of one and a half (1:30) minutes across all three levels.
Increases Dragon Weapon's Elemental Attack

Convert Element has a unique mechanic when it interacts with a Dragon Weapon. When activated, this skill increases the base dragon attack that a dragon weapon does with a consistent value throughout all three levels.
Works with Dragon Phial Switch Axes
Testing was done with an Artian Switch Axe with no element against a Zoh Shia's fire attack.
The effects of both Convert Element and Elemental Absorption work with the Dragon Phial Switch Axes even if they don't have an inherent element.

The Convert Element skill also has a chance to be included in an appraised talisman. These talismans are appraised from 9-star hunts.

Anonymous 8 monthsDoes this activate with those few switch axes that have no element but do have the "dragon phial" as long as you're attacking in sword mode to activate the phial?
