Please read at your own risk.

How to Unlock High Rank

  1. Defeat Low Rank Story Boss
  2. Capture a High Rank Yian Kut-Ku

Defeat Low Rank Story Boss

To unlock High Rank, Hunters must first defeat Zoh Shia, which is the final Low Rank Boss of the game.

After clearing this mission, a cutscene will play and credits will start to roll in but that only marks the start of High Rank content!

Chapter 3 Walkthrough

Capture a High Rank Yian Kut-Ku

Capturing a High Rank Yian Kut-Ku will be the first High Rank Quest you will encounter in-game after talking to a Wudwud NPC named Sassafrill.

Make sure to stock up on healing items and steaks for HP and Stamina recovery, Pitfall Traps, Shock Traps, and Tranq Bombs for capturing monsters to clear this mission!

Once you complete the quest, you will be able to get and take on more High Rank hunts!

Starting in Chapter 4, all succeeding Hunter Ranks will have limits. The only way to unlock these caps is by progressing through the chapters. By Chapter 6, after defeating Arkveld, you'll unlock the final limit, allowing you to reach higher ranks without restrictions.

Walkthrough and List of Main Story Chapters

HR Progression is Saved Until Cap is Unlocked

You will still get Hunter Rank progression even if you hit an HR cap. Any excess will be applied once the HR cap is removed upon completing a certain quest, which means that you can keep building up to raise your HR even if it is locked at some point.

Complete Side Missions

Side Mission
On High Rank, story chapters will no longer advance your Hunter Rank. You'll need to complete side missions to earn points, which is the only way to increase your rank from this point forward. Pair them with Optional Quests to get even more points!

High Rank armors are divided into two categories. Armors classified as α have more innate skills but fewer skill slots, while β has more skill slots but only one built-in skill.

Choose α if you're comfortable with its built-in skills, and go for β if you prefer the flexibility to build your own skills.
