Setting your location to New Zealand in your Xbox settings will allow you to play Monster Hunter Wilds early. Check out all the steps to changing your location and more!
Disclaimer! |
This is an unofficial method to playing the game early, and should be done at a player's discretion! |
If you have an Xbox Series X or S, you can set your location to New Zeleand to play Monster Hunter Wilds early, as this is the region that will have access to the game first on Xbox.
See the table below for the steps to change your region.
| How to Change Your Location in Xbox | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Ensure that no game or application is running. |
| 2 | ![]() Go to your Xbox Settings → System → Language & location. |
| 3 | ![]() Select Location and choose New Zealand. |
| 4 | ![]() After selecting New Zeland, select Restart Now to apply the changes. |
Note that the above method does not work for Steam and PlayStation. The PS5 selects your time zone based on the region of your PlayStation Network account, while Steam will follow a global release time regardless of region.
To play from the New Zealand release on PlayStation, you must register a New Zealand-based account and use a payment method valid for that region considering that you already reside there.
Keep in mind that PlayStation Network accounts are region-locked, and their region cannot be changed once created.
New Zealand uses two standard time zones: New Zealand Standard Time (NZST) for the main islands and Chatham Standard Time (CHAST) for the Chatham Islands. Its dependencies and associated states also use different time zones.
See the table below for the time zones used in New Zealand and its associated states.
| Time Zone | Standard Time | Daylight Time |
|---|---|---|
| New Zealand | UTC+12:00 | UTC+13:00 |
| Chatham Islands | UTC+12:45 | UTC+13:45 |
| Tokelau | UTC+13:00 | |
| Cook Islands | UTC−10:00 | |
| Niue | UTC−11:00 | |
With this in mind, setting your Xbox to New Zealand allows you to play the game early as the country has one of the earliest time zones that you can choose in the Location settings.

*Expected dates for US time zones; releases for European and Asian time zones will come the following day.
