Time-limited content that offers exclusive rewards.Event quests are only available for a limited time, and the rewards are no longer available once the event ends.
These quests serve as the hunting portion of the main story quests. Completing Assingment quests will increase the Hunter's rank and unlock Optional Quests in the game.
Optional Quests are non-mandatory quests that can be done for additional rewards. In previous titles, Optional Quests are best utilized for target farming specific monsters, and Monster Hunter Wilds is no exception.
Field Survey Quests are open-world quests that can be completed for bonus rewards. Unlocked at high rank, Field Survey Quests provide a way for hunters to farm monster parts much faster, as the bonus reward given upon completion is significant.
Investigations are improved, repeatable Field Survey Quests that can be done by spending guild points. Investigations give the hunter the agency to hunt as they please, as they can be done at any time.
Arena Quests are made mainly to test the skills of hunters all around the world. These quests log the fastest clear times from all players, and those with the best records are shown in the leaderboards.
Challenge Quests are unique hunts that test the ability of hunters to complete a hunt within a specified amount of time.
Players who take on these quests will only be able to use pre-determined equipment and only team up with another player instead of the usual three.
Challenge Quests Schedule and Rewards
Free Challenge Quests, like Challenge Quests, are hunts that test the ability of hunters to complete a hunt within a specified amount of time.
The main difference is that Free Challenge Quests allow the use of any equipment and they can be taken on by up to four players instead of two.
Free Challenge Quests Schedule and Rewards
In Monster Hunter Wilds, quests determine what monster you will hunt and the rewards you will get upon successfully completing certain objectives.
There are two ways to start a quest; you can either talk to Alma, the Quest Handler, or attack monsters out in the open, which will automatically trigger a hunt quest. You can opt to take on these quest solo or with other hunters through the multiplayer lobbies or firing an SOS Flare.

Hunting quests require the hunter to kill one or more targets in order to complete the quest. Other targets may appear in the quest, but they can be safely ignored as only the designated target is needed to complete the quest.
Hunters are often tasked with hunting large monsters, but they may also be tasked with hunting multiple smaller monsters. Monsters in Hunting quests can either be killed or captured.
In this type of optional quest, targets must be eliminated to fulfill the quest conditions. Capturing the target will result in mission failure, so Hunters should strictly stick to killing the target.
Monsters that normally cannot be captured are assigned as Slaying Quests, such as Zoh Shia or Uth Duna.
Monster targets must only be captured to fulfill the quest condition. Killing targets does not count, so make sure you have enough traps and tranq bombs to successfully capture the designated monster target.
Hunters must do enough damage to the target monster to complete this type of quest. It's not necessary to kill the monster outright, and the quest condition is considered fulfilled once the monster reaches the required damage threshold.
Repel missions are currently tied to Assignment Quests as part of the main storyline.
