Use Both Trap Items and Environmental Traps

Falling Boulder Windward Plains.png

Using items that can disrupt a monster's movements while also damaging them is one of the best moves you can do when tackling a monster as a group. If a monster's not moving, not only will it be you laying down the damage to the monster, but you and three other hunters. This makes traps and environmental effects that much more effective when playing co-op.

Stack Large Barrel Bombs When Monster Sleeps

MH Wilds - Prepare Barrel Bombs-min.PNG

Large Barrel Bombs have a maximum limit of 2 uses per hunter and it's one of the best items to use to initiate a wake-up attack against a sleeping monster. When playing co-op, always bring 2 Large Barrel bombs to see explosions fly when a monster slumbers.

Equip At Least a Level 1 Flinch Free

Flinch Free is one of the best skills to equip when playing co-op and it's so great that running a co-op session without it can make you lose a bunch of DPS. Flinch Free basically allows your hunter to not get interrupted by minor attacks from other hunters. If you've experienced a Long Sword player interrupting your combos, a Flinch Free decoration will solve all your issues.

Be Aggressive When the Monster Focuses on Other Hunters

A monster's attacks is usually focused on hitting a single hunter. This means that when the monster's attention is focused on an allied hunter, the rest of the hunters in that group will have an easier time hitting the monster as there is less danage when they're not the focus of the attack.

Use Luring Pods to Make Monsters Focus You

If you're using a weapon that relies on counters like the Charge Blade or the Long Sword, you may want to be the focus of the monster's attention during hunts. Use a Luring Pod to make the monster's attention be focused on you so all their attacks will be directed towards you and not other hunters.
