Earplugs is an Armor Skill that negates monster roars in Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds). Learn the effects of Earplugs, how it affects each type of roar, and see a list of armor, decorations, and talismans with the Earplugs skill.

Earplugs provide immunity towards monster roars such as Weak and Strong Roars. The immunity effect starts are Level 2 for Weak Roars, while Strong Roar immunity starts at Level 3.

Each level of Earplugs can negate certain types of roars such as Weak and Strong Roars. Level 1 Earplugs can reduce the effects of Weak Roars but not Strong Roars, while Level 2 Earplugs can make you completely immune to Weak Roars and reduce the effects of Strong Roars. Lastly, Level 3 Earplugs will make you completely immune to all types of roars.
Keep in mind that this also negates the damage of Strong Roars, even for Level 2 Earplugs so try to equip this in situations where it gets problematic.
Identify Different Roar Types
When you are not sure what type of roar the monster does, you can always check the Large Monster Field Guide as this provides all the Special Attacks for each monster. This is extremely useful for figuring out what level of Earplugs you should be using for a specific monster you are hunting.
Block Roars With Your Weapon
The another way of dodging a monster's roar is by blocking it with your weapon. As long as you block before the roar comes out, and you are facing the monster, you will be able to dodge the roar's effects.

Currently, only 4 monsters have strong roars. This makes Earplugs 2 a strong option for a general hunting loadout as this will be enough to negate most monster roars.
