Can You Play Monster Hunter Wilds Offline?

Offline Mode is Supported

Offline Mode is a supported feature in Monster Hunter Wilds, allowing players without internet access to continue playing the game with no issues.

However, playing offline means you may miss out on updates, news, and access to multiplayer modes!

New Gameplay Features and Mechanics

Online Play Optional for Consoles

Offline Mode is accessible on all platforms. Regardless of your console, you'll be able to play solo without an internet connection.

Available Platforms and Consoles Guide

Solo Play is Possible

While you may want to go offline to play solo, it is actually possible to play solo even while online. You can play the game by choosing the Online Single Player on the lobby menu. This will allow you to experience the game fully alone even while playing online.

Support Hunters Available for Offline Players

For those who wish not to play with other players online but still want to experience hunting monsters with multiple people, NPC Support Hunters are available to use even during solo sessions.

These computer-controlled hunters will fight alongside the player during quests, and their behavior can be tweaked in the game's options.

How to Play Offline

Start Online Single Player Lobby

If you want to play solo without going offline, you can start an Online Single Player Lobby instead. This allows you to still enjoy online features such as purchasing DLC directly from the support desk or receiving the latest news and updates without interruption from other players.

You can set up Online Single Player Lobbies in the title menu, or if you're already in-game, you can speak to Alma instead.

Disconnect from the Internet

You can also completely disconnect from the internet to play offline. However, for future updates, such as the incoming Title Update 1, you'll need to reconnect and download it to stay up to date with most players.

You'll also be unable to invite online players using the SOS Flare feature. Activating it will only summon Support Hunters or NPCs.

Benefits of Playing Solo

Proceed at your Own Pace

Cooking

One of the biggest benefits of playing solo is the freedom to play the game at your own pace. You can stop hunting monsters midway to gather ingredients or even just walk around to enjoy the giant environment the game has to offer.

You can also roam and look for ideal popup camp spots to increase your safety havens.

How to Set Up Pop-up Camps and Best Locations

Pause the Game

Another big benefit that solo play can offer is the pause feature. Pausing is impossible to do in online play as it will disrupt the other player's hunt but playing solo will allow you to use this anytime. This is perfect if you need to do other stuff outside the game for a short moment.

How to Pause the Game

Easily Call Other Hunters if Needed

While you're playing solo, you may encounter monsters that may be too difficult for your. Regardless, you can still use the SoS Flare to call other hunters to aid you in the hunt. And even if no other players join the hunt, Support Hunters will still come to your aid and help you take down your target.
