Guard is a Weapon Skill that reduces your Stamina consumption and knockback while guarding in Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds). Learn the effects of Guard and see a list of weapons and decorations with the Guard skill.

Guard Skill
Reduces knockbacks and stamina depletion when guarding.
Level Effect
1 Slightly decreases the impact of attacks and reduces stamina depletion by 15%.
2 Decreases the impact of attacks and reduces stamina depletion by 30%.
3 Greatly decreases the impact of attacks and reduces stamina depletion by 50%.

Guard reduces the knockback you receive while blocking monster attacks, while also reducing your stamina consumption when guarding.

Should Not be Confused with Guard Up

Guard should not be confused with Guard Up. Guard only reduces the knockback and stamina consumption from blocking, while Guard Up makes unblockable attacks blockable.

Reduces Stamina Consumption by up to 50%

When you have Guard equipped, your Stamina consumption while blocking is reduced by up to 50%, effectively doubling the amount of times you can block before running out of Stamina.

Reduces Blocking Knockback

Guard also reduces the knockback you receive while blocking, allowing you to get back into the fight faster thanks to the reduced knockback distance and faster knockback animation.

This is especially noticeable with monster attacks that have a stronger knockback, as Level 3 Guard can basically half the knockback animation time. With attacks that have a weaker knockback, Level 3 Guard can basically negate the knockback.
