Monster Hunter Wilds

Fireblight Status Ailment Explained

Add to Watchlist

Fireblight is a status ailment in Monster Hunter: Wilds that monsters can inflict on the player, causing them to lose HP over time. See an explanation for Fireblight in this guide, as well as if monsters can be Fireblighted in this guide!

Fireblight Status Ailment Explained

Burns the Hunter's HP Over Time

burns image
Fireblight is a Status Ailment that is inflicted by monsters that can deal Fire Damage. Once in effect, the hunter is burned and loses their HP continuously while aflame.

The Ailment Will Wear Off Over Time

Fireblight will wear off naturally over time, however allowing it to do so means taking all of the damage it inflicts while in effect, which is not advisable.

Use a Nulberry to Heal the Status

Nulberry Nulberry
Type Hunting Item Rarity 2
Sell Price 120 Hold Limit 10
Description
A mysterious berry that cures various blights.

A Nulberry will cure hunters of the status instantly when used, so be sure to carry some on hunts where you feel like Fireblight may become an issue.

Nulberry Location: How to Get and Uses

Dodge Roll to Reduce its Duration by 10 Seconds

Alternatively, players can spam the roll input to put the fire out. This may take a few rolls, but it will eventually dispel the status. Note that rolling in a wet area removes the status after one roll.

Sidesteps Can Reduce it by 5 Seconds Per Use

Sidestepping is a different evasive move than rolling and while it reduces fireblight per sidestep, it only reduces it by 5 seconds per use making it less effective than rolling. But it's a move you can use if you don't want to sheathe your weapon.

Interact with Purewasps

Monster Hunter Wilds - Purewasp

Purewasps are endemic life similar to Vigorwasps but instead of restoring HP, it will remove blights and status effects similar to a Nulberry. Be sure to interact with these endemic lives when you have a status effect ailing you.

Can Be Delivered to You By Palicoes

Palicoes can also deliver Purewasps to the hunter when they are suffering from status ailments. Be sure to listen to your palico's support actions to know if a Purewasp delivery is on the way.

How to Resist Fireblight

Have a Fire Resist of More Than 20

fire res 25

If your current Fire Res is higher than 20, you'll be immune to Fire Blight. This is effective when fighting against monsters that can dish out fire blight continuously so consider gearing up and increasing your Fire Res against these monsters.

Resistance Between 10 to 19 Reduces Affliction Rate

fire res 15
While not completely immune, having a Fire Res between 10 to 19 will reduce the rate of getting afflicted by Fire Blight. You'll still get afflicted if you get hit by Fireblight-inflicting attacks so caution is advised.

Blight Resistance Can Nullify Blights

Blight Resistance Icon Blight Resistance Grants protection against all elemental blights.

The Blight Resistance skill can reduce the affliction rate of all blight attacks and can even nullify it at max level. Consider Blight Resistance if you're fighting monsters capable of inflicting these blights on you.

Can You Fireblight Monsters?

You Cannot Directly Inflict Fireblight

Hunters cannot inflict Blights on monsters, even with Elemental Weapons. Using a Fire-Element Weapon does not allow players to inflict the blight of the corresponding element.
