Item Description
Armor AmmoArmor Ammo Ammo that produces a cloud that temporarily strengthens defense in the impact zone of where it lands.
Cluster BombCluster Bomb Ammo that fragments into multiple shells upon impact. Beware of friendly fire!
Demon AmmoDemon Ammo Ammo that produces a cloud that temporarily strengthens attacks in the impact zone of where it lands.
Dragon AmmoDragon Ammo Ammo that packs a punch against monsters weak to dragon.
Exhaust AmmoExhaust Ammo Ammo that drains a monster's stamina.
Flaming AmmoFlaming Ammo Ammo that packs a punch against monsters susceptible to fire.
Freeze AmmoFreeze Ammo Ammo that packs a punch against monsters susceptible to ice.
Normal AmmoNormal Ammo Standard ammo. Fires multiple shots with each pull of the trigger. Unlimited capacity.
Paralysis AmmoParalysis Ammo Ammo that causes paralysis. Some targets require multiple shots in order for the status to take effect.
Pierce AmmoPierce Ammo Armor-piercing ammo. Depending on the monster, it can deal multiple hits. Unlimited capacity.
Poison AmmoPoison Ammo Ammo that inflicts poison. Some targets require multiple shots in order for the status to take effect.
Recover AmmoRecover Ammo Ammo that produces a healing cloud in the impact zone of where it lands.
Sleep AmmoSleep Ammo Ammo that induces sleep. Some targets require multiple shots in order for the status to take effect.
Slicing AmmoSlicing Ammo Ammo that ejects sharp blades on impact, which can sever tails.
Spread AmmoSpread Ammo Ammo made for close combat. Short range but high power. Unlimited capacity.
Sticky AmmoSticky Ammo Powerful ammo that lodges in a target and explodes. Headshots stun.
Thunder AmmoThunder Ammo Ammo that packs a punch against monsters susceptible to thunder.
Tranq AmmoTranq Ammo Ammo used to capture monsters ensnared in traps.
Water AmmoWater Ammo Ammo that packs a punch against monsters susceptible to water.
Wyvern AmmoWyvern Ammo Ammo created through years of research into Wyvern's Fire. Short ranged, but destructive.

What are Bowgun Ammo?

Ammo for Bowgun Weapons

Bowgun Ammo, as the name implies, is ammo for the Light Bowgun and Heavy Bowgun Weapons. Each ammo type has unique effects, such as applying different elemental damage to attacks or capturing a trapped monster.

Note that Bowgun Ammo is shared between both Bowgun types, with some working better with the Light Bowgun and others with the Heavy Bowgun. Additionally, Bowgun Ammo has a dedicated slot in the Item pouch, allowing players to carry 12 ammo types.

Infinite Ammo Types and Ammo Level

Unlike in previous games, the Normal, Spread, and Pierce Ammo are now infinite, meaning they do not need to be replenished.

Additionally, Bowgun Ammo levels are now tied with the equipped bowgun. While this lessens the crafting needed to get higher-level ammo, it also results in less capacity, as players cannot hold stacks of the same ammo type with different levels.
