Elemental Absorption is an active skill that provides additional elemental attack and resistance when hit by elemental attacks. Use in combination with Convert Element to maximize its effects!
Elemental Absorption Activation Mechanics
Similar to Convert Element, Elemental Absorption activates whenever the player is hit by an elemental attack. With its activation, the player will receive additional elemental attack and resistance.
Elemental Absorption Depends on Your Weapon Element
As seen from the picture above, the type of additional elemental attack and resistance will solely depend on the weapon's base element that which the player is using during the activation of Elemental Absorption. In the example above, the weapon’s element is fire. In effect, the fire attack of the weapon is increased along with the player’s fire resistance. The elemental damage type from the monster does not affect which element is increased.
Note that your choice of weapon must have an element in order to activate Elemental Absorption. These only include: Water, Ice, Dragon, Fire, and Thunder.
Works with Dragon Phial Switch Axes
Testing was done with an Artian Switch Axe with no element against a Zoh Shia's fire attack.
The effects of both Convert Element and Elemental Absorption work with the Dragon Phial Switch Axes even if they don't have an inherent element.
Elemental Absorption Duration and Cooldown
Elemental Absorption remains active for two (2) minutes, while its cooldown duration is one and a half (1:30) minutes. While the additional elemental resistance value is displayed in the table above, its additional elemental attack is dissected per weapon in the tables below.

Biggest Increase for Slow Hitting Weapons

Great sword and Hunting Horn enjoy the highest increase in base elemental attack with level 3 reaching a hefty +100.
Medium Increase for Medium Speed Hitting Weapons

Most weapons stay within this range where we see a decent increase in elemental attack. Although not a massive increase, the weapons below still hold the least increase in elemental attack.

Dual Blades and Bow see the least increase in elemental attack with the use of elemental absorption- seeing only a +50 with the skill at level 3.
