To perform a Dive Evade, you must first sprint away from the monster you are currently fighting. Afterward, you must evade, causing your character too perform a Dive Evade. After landing on the ground, your character must first stand up before they are able to do anything else.
Dive Evades can dodge even the strongest attacks, making them really strong against monsters that can kill you in one move. Even if the attack hits you mid-air, it will miss you until the complete animation is over.
The Dive Evade gives you around three seconds of invulnerability, compared to a normal evade that gives around less then half a second. Thanks to this, you have a huge window of opportunity for when to perform a Dive Evade.
The Dive Evade also covers a big distance, allowing you to safely move away from a monster's attack range and any follow-up attacks they may make.
The Dive Evade's biggest downside is that the animation to stand up from the ground is long. That means that you are staying in one place as you recover from the dive. Although you are still invincible while standing, you become vulnerable to attacks as soon as you are standing up.
Should the monster decide to use a charge attack or a long range attack, you will get hit by it right after standing up unless you dodge or block just in time.
Because of the Dive Evade's long recovery animation, it is not possible to use it consecutively unlike a normal evade roll or sidestep. As such, you must properly time your Dive Evades and avoid spamming it.
To perform a Dive Evade, two conditions must be met. The first is that you must currently be fighting or engaged with a monster. You cannot perform a Dive Evade if you are just exploring or if the monster is not actively fighting you.
The second condition is that you must be sprinting away from the monster you are currently fighting. If you are sprinting toward the monster, you will not be able to perform a Dive Evade.
