Help Your Palico Test Its Prototype
| 1 |  Talk to your Palico at the Base Camp in any region once it has entered your tent to get started. Your Palico is eager to test a new prototype it has developed, and what better way to test it than on a real hunt. After the conversation is over, make your preparations. |

| 2 |  Talk to Alma and accept the optional Rath-from-Above, Go! quest. Note that you can only bring one other hunter with you if you want to do this quest with other hunters. ┣ Accepting Optional Quests ┗ Hunt Monsters With Friends |
| 3 |  Defeat the Quematrice in the Windward Plains. Since this is a hunting quest, the Quematrice can be killed or captured and still count as completing the quest. ┗ Duking It Out on the Windward Plains ▶︎ Monster Hunt: Quematrice |
| 4 |  When the hunt is over, talk to your Palico at the Base Camp in any of the regions. When you arrive at the Base Camp, go to your tent and wait for your palico to return to your tent and talk to it. This will end the quest and you will receive a new Palico Support Skill. |
Accepting Optional Quests
Some side missions require the hunter to complete Optional Quests as part of the mission. You can accept optional quests by talking to Alma and going to the Optional Quests tab in the Quest Counter menu.
Hunt Monsters With Friends
If you're having trouble completing a quest, you can ask a friend or random hunter to help you out. Doing quests with other players can make encounters easier by increasing the number of targets the monster has to focus on.
How to Play Multiplayer with Friends
Duking It Out on the Windward Plains
Although the quest can be started from any region in the game as long as it's a place where Alma is, the hunting portion of the quest will still take the hunter to the Windward Plains.
Familiarize yourself with the lay of the land, as the environmental hazards that can aid you in the hunt, such as paratoads and vinetraps, can just give you the edge you need.

 Stock up on Nulberries, as Quematrice can inflict Fireblight whenever it uses her fire-based attacks. Water is very effective against it, so bring a water elemental weapon or use water ammuniton against them. |

How to Unlock Rath-from-Above, Go!
Complete the Flash Course Side Mission
As part of the Palico Support Skill Questline that can be started in chapter 4, this quest is unlocked after you catch a Flashfly with the Capture Net in the Flash Course side mission. Upon completion, talk to your Palico at Base Camp to begin this quest.
