Use Flash Pods to take down and hit flying monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. Check how to bring down flying monsters and learn how to attack them effectively!
The easiest and fastest way to take down a flying monster is to use a flashpod. They can be crafted from Flashbugs, so be sure to collect them when you can!
It's important to remember that all monsters will develop a resistance to being flashed the more you use it against them. With this in mind, be sure to use Flash Pods wisely and efficiently.
List of All Items and Materials
There are a lot of environmental traps you could use to your advantage in Wilds. Once you lure the flying monster into its area of effect, they can be toppled down. This is your chance to attack them!
Below are a list of environmental traps:
It's also highly possible for the traps to miss due to timing.
How to Set and Activate Traps
You can try to mount a monster to hopefully bring them down for everyone to hit. To mount a monster, you have to keep hitting it with jump attacks which you can do while drawing your weapon in mid-air.
At its simplest, hitting the monster and dealing damage will eventually make it fall down from the air, as the monster will be staggered and stop flying.
Using ranged weapons will give you an easier time in dealing with flying monsters. This is because you can consistently deal damage whether the monster is on the ground or the air.
Thankfully, there are multiple ranged weapons you can choose from:
Ranged Weapons | Pros and Cons |
---|---|
Light Bowgun | ✔️ High Mobility at Range ✔️Consistent Damage Uptime ✔️Strong Elemental Capabilities ❌Reliant on Gear ❌Ammunition Management |
Heavy Bowgun | ✔️ Good Damage Output ✔️Decent Defensive Capabilities ✔️Great Flexibility ❌Low Mobility ❌Ammo Management is Crucial |
Bow | ✔️ Consistently Outputs Damage ✔️Good Mobility and Evasion ✔️Allows for Safe Spacing ✔️Utility via Coatings ❌Needs Constant Stamina Management |
There will be times when the monster descends and gives you an opening to attack them. This may happen once they do a ground attack or when they're about to die.
If it is the latter, the monster will most likely fly away and head to its nest to rest. You can follow them and use this chance to prepare items and attacks that deal a massive amount of damage.
It is definitely possible to kill flying monsters using melee weapons. You could use Flash Pods, or even some environmental traps to bring the monster down.
