Poison Resistance reduces the total poison damage you take by reducing the total poison damage ticks. The values above were tested by interacting with a Poisoncup and standing in the poison pool until poisoned.
Take note that Poison Resistance does not reduce the poison duration. The Poison status lasts for approximately 30 seconds, regardless of Poison Resistance level.
